Turkish president engages with global leaders over Iran crisis
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a series of phone calls with leaders from the US, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to discuss recent Israeli and US strikes on Iran and Tehran’s subsequent responses.
During the conversations, Erdoğan expressed concern over the potential impact of the conflict on regional and global security, emphasising that diplomatic negotiations remain the most rational approach, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
He extended condolences to countries affected by the attacks, reviewed the current situation, and urged all parties to resume dialogue.
Erdoğan also reaffirmed Türkiye’s readiness to support the peace process and highlighted the importance of close coordination with the EU. Additionally, he offered condolences over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, resulting from US-Israeli strikes.
