Türkiye sends fourth train with humanitarian aid to Pakistan
The fourth train with humanitarian aid has left Ankara for Pakistan.
The humanitarian cargo within the framework of the Good Train campaign was formed with the support of the Office for the Prevention and Elimination of Consequences of Emergencies (AFAD) under the Turkish government with the participation of Turkish non-governmental organizations, Anadolu Agency reports.
The departure ceremony took place at the historic station in Ankara.
The humanitarian aid included tents, blankets and food.
The ceremony was attended by Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu, Ankara Governor Vasip Shahin, AFAD Head Yunus Sezer, Director General of the Turkish Railways State Company Ufuk Yalchin, Pakistani Ambassador to Ankara Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi and representatives of non-governmental organizations.
Speaking at the ceremony, the head of the Turkish Interior Ministry called the Ankara station a "station of kindness."
According to him, Türkiye has mobilized all efforts to provide assistance to flood-hit Pakistan.
“The fourth train is leaving for Pakistan today. The fifth one will set off on September 13 from Mersin,” Soylu said.
In general, it is planned to deliver 50,000 tents to Pakistan. At the moment, 20 thousand tents, 47,631 parcels with food and detergents, and 38,800 blankets have been sent to this country. The Ministry of Health sent 586,572 units of medical supplies and medicines, as well as 50 boats,” he added.
