Georgian police arrest Turkish fugitive wanted by Interpol for double murder
Georgian law enforcement authorities have apprehended three Turkish nationals, one of whom is wanted by Interpol in connection with a double homicide, for illegally entering the country through the Kvemo Kartli region.
According to Georgian media outlets, the information was confirmed by the press service of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Caliber.Az reports.
The ministry stated that the individuals crossed into Georgia without passing through an official border checkpoint. They were intercepted in the Tetritskaro area after police stopped their vehicle.
During the search, authorities discovered firearms and 13 rounds of ammunition in their possession.
The suspects are now facing criminal charges for illegal border crossing as well as for the unlawful acquisition, possession, and transportation of firearms and ammunition. If convicted, they could face prison terms of up to 11 years.
