Iran’s parliament speaker says diplomacy does not mean surrender

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said diplomacy does not amount to surrender and should instead allow the country to turn its military capabilities into political gains.

“Diplomacy is not surrender. It is about turning strength on the battlefield into political gains,” Ghalibaf said at an event in Tehran.

According to Ghalibaf, negotiations are also a form of confrontation, and Iran will continue to resist military, economic and information pressure from its adversaries.

Ghalibaf also said Iran would not yield to pressure from US President Donald Trump.

“Trump is facing a historic civilisation and a national and religious resistance,” he said, adding that the US president would not be able to impose his will on Iran or its armed forces.
