Iran to put seized US, Israel-linked vessels up for sale

Iran announced on September 22 that commercial vessels linked to the United States and Israel seized during the war in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf would be sold, with the proceeds distributed among families affected by the conflict.

Hassan Abdolianpour, head of the Judiciary’s Centre for Lawyers, said a number of US and Israeli vessels had been confiscated in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf “under judicial rulings.”

“The proceeds from the sale of these vessels will be used for individuals and families affected by the recent war,” Abdolianpour noted.

He added that experts had begun assessing the damage caused by US attacks in the southern province of Hormozgan and surrounding areas.

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a war against Iran that, according to Tehran, killed thousands of people. Tehran responded with missile and drone attacks across the region and effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic route for energy supplies.
