Former Rosgvardia logistics chief sentenced to eight years for bribery

Alexander Busygin, the former head of the logistics department of Russia’s National Guard (Rosgvardia), has been sentenced to eight years in a strict-regime penal colony for accepting a ₽6 million ($75,000) bribe from a supplier of personal hygiene products.

According to Russia’s Investigative Committee, the court also fined Busygin ₽6.7 million, ordered the confiscation of the full amount of the bribe and stripped him of his military rank of colonel. He has also been barred from holding certain positions for four years, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media. 

Investigators established that between 2023 and 2024, Busygin systematically received money from representatives of JSC Dzerzhinsk Garment Factory “Rus”.

The company had secured multimillion-ruble contracts with the department to supply personal hygiene products. In exchange for payments, Busygin allegedly turned a blind eye to contractual violations and provided the company with protection.

As a result, the company failed to fulfil its contractual obligations, causing multimillion-ruble losses to the state, according to the Investigative Committee.

A separate criminal case against representatives of the garment factory accused of handing the money to Busygin is currently being considered by a court.
