Satellite images capture fire at Russia's Samara oil refinery VIDEO

A fire at the Kuibyshev oil refinery in Samara following a reported drone attack can be seen in satellite imagery, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's Russian service reports.

A Planet satellite image shows several fuel storage tanks burning in the eastern part of the refinery.

Earlier on September 22, ASTRA reported that the refinery was on fire following a drone attack. Videos and photographs posted by eyewitnesses showed the aftermath.

Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said Ukrainian forces had targeted industrial facilities and reported damage to private homes and cars.

One person was killed, and four others were injured.

The Kuibyshev refinery is one of the region's largest oil industry facilities and is owned by Rosneft. It has a refining capacity of about 7 million tonnes of oil a year.
