Passenger plane catches fire during refueling at Russian airport

A passenger aircraft caught fire while being refueled at an airport in Yekaterinburg, Russia, with four crew members on board.

The aircraft was preparing to depart for Magnitogorsk when a fire broke out during the refilling of an oxygen cylinder, SHOT Telegram channel reports.

“At that moment, a fire broke out in the nose section of the fuselage. Two pilots and two flight attendants were on board — all of them managed to get out,” the report said.

The fire was quickly extinguished. A refueling worker was injured in the incident and subsequently hospitalized.

Part of the aircraft’s fuselage was completely destroyed by fire, and the plane was taken out of service.

Passengers scheduled to travel on the aircraft were later transported to Magnitogorsk on a replacement plane.
