Russian speaker says Merz, Macron and Zelenskyy will answer for their actions

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will be held accountable for the troubles they have brought upon their countries and the peoples of other states in their attempts to cling to power, Russia's State Duma Chairman, Vyacheslav Volodin, said.

In a social media post, the politician highlighted the electoral defeats suffered by Merz’s party in German state elections, said Zelenskyy had “long lost his legitimacy,” and pointed out that Macron had only a year left in his presidential term, Russian state media reports.

“Clinging to power, they have all brought troubles and problems not only to the peoples of their own countries. They will have to answer for this,” Volodin wrote.

At the same time, he noted that elections in Germany are “an internal matter of a sovereign state.” “The people of each country independently decide their future by electing their representatives to positions of power,” the State Duma speaker stressed.
