One dead, 11 injured in shooting outside school in Türkiye VIDEO / UPDATED

The number of people injured in an attack at a school in Manisa, Türkiye, has risen to 11, with two of the wounded in critical condition.

The attack was carried out by a 15-year-old student, according to the latest reports. The suspect was detained following the shooting.

The suspect’s parents and grandfather, who was the owner of the weapon used in the attack, have also been detained.

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said the ministers of National Education and Interior were already on their way to the scene.

“All forms of judicial and administrative investigations” have been launched into the incident.

The number of people injured in a shooting outside a school in Turkey’s Manisa province has risen to eight, while one student was killed and the suspected gunman was arrested, according to reports.

The shooting took place in front of a vocational and technical high school in the Turgutlu district of Manisa province, Turkish authorities said. Police and emergency medical teams were immediately dispatched to the scene, and the injured were taken to hospitals for treatment. 

The suspected shooter was apprehended by security forces and taken into custody, according to the provincial governor’s office. Authorities are investigating the motive and circumstances of the attack. Officials have not yet disclosed the condition of those injured.

One student was killed, and four others were injured after an unidentified gunman opened fire outside a school in the Turgutlu district of Türkiye’s Manisa province.

The armed attack took place outside a secondary school in Turgutlu, the Sözcü newspaper reported.

The assailant opened fire with a firearm, killing one student and injuring four others.

Police officers and ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene following the shooting, Milliyet reported.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident and the identity of the gunman.

An unidentified gunman opened fire outside the İnci Üzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in the Turgutlu district of Türkiye’s Manisa province, according to preliminary reports.

Yeni Şafak newspaper reported that students were injured in the incident.

The shooting occurred at around 8 a.m. local time in the Albayrak neighbourhood. Emergency services received a report of the attack via Türkiye’s 112 emergency hotline, following which numerous police units and ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene.

Police officers and medical teams are continuing to work at the site. The motive for the shooting and the circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated.

The school is located in Turgutlu’s Albayrak neighbourhood.
