US to provide security for Iranian FM during UN General Assembly

The United States will provide security for Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during the UN General Assembly in New York.

Writing on X, Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported that Iran had requested US protection for Araghchi during his visit, citing a US State Department letter to Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations.

“The US State Department conducted a threat assessment regarding him and agreed to provide him with protection from the Diplomatic Security Service,” the letter said.
