Ankara: Israel likely to target Iran’s core military capabilities
Türkiye’s foreign minister Hakan Fidan, has said Israel’s primary objective in any potential strike on Iran would likely be to destroy critical elements of the country’s military capability.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Fidan said, "The primary objective of Israel would be to destroy some of the critical capabilities of the Iranian military"
Asked whether Israel was pursuing regime change in Iran, Fidan said it may be an ambition, but questioned whether it was achievable.
“Well, they would like to do that, but I don’t know if they can do it because it’s up to the people. It’s not up to outside military intervention,” he said.
He added that Iranians tend to unite around their leadership during foreign attacks, particularly in the event of a strike by Israel.
“The Iranian people, at a time of war and attack from outside, especially coming from Israel, always unite around their leaders,” he said.
