Türkiye warns of intense heatwave as temperatures set to top 40°C
Türkiye is expected to face a wave of extreme heat after July 17, with temperatures forecast to surpass 40°C at major tourist destinations, according to meteorological projections.
Medical professionals have already issued warnings, urging visitors to take precautions amid the anticipated conditions. Turkish general practitioner Dilek Şengül told RIA Novosti that the heat could pose health risks, particularly for tourists unaccustomed to such temperatures.
In response, Türkiye’s Ministry of Health has advised both residents and visitors to maintain adequate hydration, recommending a daily intake of 2.5 to 3 litres of water and cautioning against waiting until the onset of thirst.
Meteorologists indicate that the sharp rise in temperatures will primarily affect resorts along the Mediterranean and Aegean coasts, where readings are expected to exceed 40°C following July 17.
