Turkmenistan to offer UN to develop global security strategy
Ashgabat will take the initiative to develop a global security strategy at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, which will start its work on September 12 in New York.
Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov said this at a meeting of the Turkmen government, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
He stressed that Ashgabat plans to put forward an initiative to develop a global security strategy in 2023. It will also be proposed to create a permanent structure on security issues in Central Asia and hold its first meeting in 2024 in the capital of the republic.
Prior to that, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the coincidence of the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha with the inauguration ceremony of the republic's first "smart" city Arkadag (Support), named in honour of his predecessor and father Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
