Iran marks Army Day with spectacular parade, featuring cutting-edge UAVs
Iran observed Army Day on April 17 with a major military parade that highlighted the country’s growing defence capabilities, particularly in unmanned aerial technology.
The main event took place on April 18 near the mausoleum of the late Imam Khomeini in Tehran and was attended by President Masoud Pezeshkian, alongside senior military officials, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
Simultaneous ceremonies were held in provincial capitals, reflecting the nationwide scope of the occasion. Units from the Ground, Air, Naval, and Air Defence branches of Iran’s army participated in the parade, which commenced following a speech from the president. A key feature of the event was a prominent display of reconnaissance and combat drones.
Among the UAVs presented were the Arash, Karrar, Amin, Sadeq, Mohajer-6, Ababil-5, and Kaman-12—many of which have been developed domestically as part of Iran’s push for defense self-sufficiency. Following the drone segment, mechanised forces rolled out tanks, armoured vehicles, artillery, and missile systems, including the Fath 360. Meanwhile, Army paratroopers performed aerial maneuvers above the parade grounds.
The Air Defence Force showcased radar and missile systems, notably including the Russian-made S-300 and other indigenous platforms. The Air Force and Navy also took part in the parade, demonstrating key elements of their operational capabilities.
