Ankara slams Greek general’s "five-minute retaliation" boast as ridiculous Photo
Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defence has sharply responded to Greek military chief Dimitrios Houpis, who claimed Greece could retaliate within five minutes if attacked by Türkiye.
As noted by Türkiye’s defence industry and military aviation news platform SavunmaSanayiST, Turkish ministry dismissed the Greek general’s comments outright, Caliber.Az reports.

"Do not expect us to respond to statements whose sincerity even their authors do not believe and which render them ridiculous," the source stated.
To recall, on April 14, Hellenic National Defence Chief of Staff Dimitrios Houpis warned that the Greek armed forces are prepared to act within five minutes in the event of an attack by Türkiye, citing ongoing tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Labeling Türkiye a “constant threat,” Houpis criticised Ankara’s “revisionist tactics” over territorial disputes involving maritime boundaries and the exclusive economic zone. He stressed the importance of military preparedness to safeguard Greece’s sovereignty in what he described as a key strategic region.
Outlining a new defence posture, Houpis highlighted Greece’s investment in advanced military technologies, including UAVs, to address emerging threats and hybrid warfare tactics.
