Putin set to travel to India for BRICS summit in New Delhi

Russian President Vladimir Putin is due to fly to India on the evening of September 10 to attend the upcoming BRICS summit in New Delhi, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“The President continues to prepare for the upcoming BRICS summit in Delhi, to which he will be flying this evening,” Peskov said at a briefing.

Putin’s trip comes ahead of the BRICS summit, with Chinese President Xi Jinping also scheduled to visit India on September 12–13 to participate in the gathering.

The Kremlin has said Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold bilateral talks on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in New Delhi.
