Media: Ukraine strikes three Russian Kalibr missile carriers in Novorossiysk PHOTO
Ukrainian defence forces have struck Russian missile carriers in Novorossiysk, with three vessels reportedly hit, according to the Exilenova+ Telegram channel.
According to the outlet, the Buyan-M missile corvette, which carries Kalibr and Oniks missiles, sustained significant damage.
Two other Russian missile carriers were also hit in Novorossiysk — the frigates Admiral Essen and Admiral Makarov.
Preliminary reports indicate that the Admiral Essen was struck by a Ukrainian-made Neptune missile. Both frigates are capable of carrying Kalibr cruise missiles.
The R-360 Neptune cruise missile is capable of striking ships with a displacement of up to 5,000 tonnes and, like other missiles in its class, can be launched from land-based, naval and aerial platforms. In April 2022, a Neptune missile was used to sink the Russian cruiser Moskva.
