Kazakh UN peacekeepers step up demining efforts on Golan Heights
Kazakh military sappers have destroyed more than 2,000 explosive items and pieces of ammunition in the Golan Heights, Kazakhstan’s Defence Ministry said on September 10.
“An engineering and demining team from the third Kazakh national contingent serving with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force on the Golan Heights is carrying out operations to detect, neutralise and destroy explosive items. Since the start of the peacekeeping mission in May 2026, more than 15 operations have been conducted, during which servicemen destroyed more than 350 explosive items and disposed of more than 1,800 rounds of small-arms ammunition,” the ministry said.
The ministry said the professionalism and coordinated actions of the engineering and demining team, along with strict adherence to safety requirements, enable the sappers to effectively carry out their assigned tasks and help maintain a stable situation in their area of responsibility.
