Tbilisi backs compliance with US sanctions on Iranian airlines
Georgia will comply with international sanctions imposed by the US Treasury Department on Iranian airlines, the Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia’s Economy Ministry said in a statement.
The United States recently imposed sanctions on 36 targets supporting Iran’s aviation sector, including 27 Iranian airlines, several companies and intermediaries, and one Egyptian national.
According to the flight information board of Tbilisi International Airport, Iranian airlines Qeshm and Varesh continue to operate regular flights to Tbilisi.
“As the expanded sanctions list published by the US Treasury Department covers airlines that currently operate air services between Georgia and Iran, the Georgian side, as in other cases, will also act in accordance with the international sanctions regime,” the statement said.
