Turkish forces nab trained PKK drone saboteur in northern Syria raid PHOTO/VIDEO

19 April 2025 14:56

Turkish gendarmerie and intelligence services carried out a high-stakes joint operation in northern Syria, leading to the capture of a trained PKK/YPG militant preparing to launch attacks against Turkish forces.

The Şanlıurfa Provincial Gendarmerie Command, in coordination with the National Intelligence Organisation (MIT), successfully apprehended the suspect during a carefully executed raid beyond Türkiye’s borders, Caliber.Az reports, citing state broadcaster TRT Haber.

The militant, originally from Türkiye, had crossed into Syria to join the ranks of the terrorist organisation, where he underwent specialised training in the use of heavy weapons and sabotage techniques.

Intelligence reports also revealed that he had received instruction as a kamikaze drone operator, with the intent of carrying out aerial strikes against Turkish troops stationed in operational zones within Syria.

Security forces stated that the suspect had been closely monitored and was detained before he could carry out any attacks.
