TURKSOY becomes 159th member of UNAOC Friends' Group

The International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) has become the 159th member of the Group of Friends of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC).

The decision followed a letter sent by the High Representative of the UN Alliance of Civilizations to TURKSOY, Caliber.Az reports, citing the TURKSOY official website.

In a statement on TURKSOY membership in the Group of Friends of the UN Alliance of Civilization, Secretary General Sultan Raev emphasized the close ties between the member countries of TURKSOY and UNAOC and informed about the preparation for the implementation of various projects to promote the organization he leads, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2023, in various countries of the world in cooperation with UNAOC.

The statement says that TURKSOY and UNAOC will join forces as supporters of cultural diplomacy with the activities they have so far carried out at the national and international levels.

The protocol on cooperation between the two international organizations was signed by Raev and the UN High Representative of the Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Angel Moratinos at the UN Forum "Alliance of Civilizations" in 2022.
