Tusk: Poland to build “armada of drones” in cooperation with Ukraine
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced plans to cooperate with Ukraine in building an advanced unmanned aerial system force — an “armada of drones” — for Poland.
Speaking in Rzeszów, at the “The Road to Ukraine Recovery Conference”, Tusk said he was proud to be opening a new chapter in the development of Polish security, Caliber.Az reports, citing Polish media.
“I am proud that our partner in this project is a country that has the greatest experience in what today determines the outcome in the air,” he noted.
The event marks an initial step in preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference scheduled to take place in Gdańsk in June.
“I am pleased to announce that Poland’s plan to create an armada of drones will also be supported by the technical ideas and drone expertise of our Ukrainian friends,” he added.
Tusk stressed that Ukraine has become a reliable partner for countries seeking to protect their airspace, also recalling Ukraine’s support to states in the Middle East.
“I want to clearly emphasise here in Rzeszów that Polish-Ukrainian relations and relations between Europe and Ukraine are not one-sided assistance to a country at war. We have succeeded — and Poland has played a leading role in this process — in building a model of partnership… in which Ukraine can also contribute,” Tusk said.
