Twin roadside explosions kill at least seven in northwestern Pakistan

20 June 2026 11:27

At least seven people have been killed and several others injured in two roadside explosions in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said.

The blasts took place in the Bannu district, an area bordering the restive North Waziristan region near Afghanistan, according to officials, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media

District police chief Yasir Afridi said the bombs had been planted along a road.

“The first explosion struck a passenger van, killing five people and injuring three others,” Afridi told reporters.

He added that a second blast occurred shortly afterwards as locals and rescue workers were moving victims to ambulances.

“At least two people were killed in the second explosion,” he said.

Authorities have not yet identified those responsible for the attacks. Security forces have launched an investigation into the incident.
