10 April 2026 16:47

Two pilots from the French Air and Space Force were injured when a training aircraft crashed on April 10 in southern France.

The crash occurred in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department, near Montagne-de-Lure, during a low-altitude training flight. The aircraft was engaged in a routine training exercise at the time of the incident, the Ministry of the Armed Forces said, Caliber.Az reports per French media.

Authorities reported that an instructor and a trainee from the Salon-de-Provence airbase were on board. Both sustained injuries but remained conscious following the crash. They were evacuated from the scene and transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Investigations have been launched into the incident. The Bureau of Enquiry into Civil Aviation Accidents for Defence (BEA-E) is conducting a technical inquiry, while a separate investigation is being carried out by the Air and Space Force gendarmerie.

Media reports indicate that both injured pilots are students at the Air and Space Force academy in Salon-de-Provence.
