Two people have been killed and six others injured in a mass shooting at what appeared to be an after-party in downtown Los Angeles, police have confirmed.
Officers first arrived at the scene around 11 p.m. on Sunday after seeing someone enter a venue hosting about 50 to 60 people, according to Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) commanding officer Letisia Ruiz, Caliber.Az reports, citing US media.
One person was arrested for carrying a firearm, and police secured the area before leaving to respond to another call.
However, at around 1 a.m. on Monday, police received reports of gunfire at the same location. When officers returned, they found several people had been shot. All eight victims were adults, with one reported to be in critical condition.
At this stage, police have not identified any suspects or determined a motive for the shooting. An investigation is ongoing.
