Lithuania conducts drone detection tests in Kaunas region
Authorities in Lithuania are conducting tests of a low-altitude airspace surveillance system in the Kaunas district on May 25–26 as part of efforts to strengthen drone detection capabilities.
The exercises are taking place in the areas of Juragi, the Rokai training ground, Linsmakalnis, and the Pajese Forest, LRT reports.
During the tests, officials are deploying various types of unmanned aerial vehicles, including drones designed to simulate Iranian-made “Shahed”-type attack drones. The drones will operate at altitudes between 250 and 1,000 metres.
Organizers said the exercises are intended to assess and improve technologies used to monitor low-flying aerial objects and to enhance the effectiveness of drone detection systems.
Residents in the surrounding areas have been advised not to be alarmed if they observe drones in the sky, as all flights are planned in advance and do not pose a threat to public safety.
