Two deadly Israeli assaults claim over 30 lives in Gaza

Israeli forces launched two deadly attacks in the central Gaza Strip on June 20, killing at least 34 Palestinians and injuring dozens more.

The first attack occurred near the Al-Shuhada Junction, north of the Nuseirat refugee camp, where a crowd had gathered to receive humanitarian aid, Caliber.Az reports via Palestinian media.

Witnesses say the group was met with gunfire and shelling by the Israeli occupation army. Al-Awda Hospital reported receiving 23 bodies and dozens of wounded individuals, many in critical condition, following the assault. In a separate strike, Israeli forces bombed a residence in the Al-Ma’asara area west of Deir al-Balah, also in central Gaza.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that 11 people were killed and others injured in the attack. Victims were transported to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah for treatment. The attacks come amid a prolonged Israeli offensive that has been ongoing since October 2023. The conflict has resulted in at least 55,706 documented Palestinian fatalities and over 130,101 injuries. 

Emergency and civil defence teams continue to struggle with rescue efforts, as thousands of victims remain trapped under rubble from ongoing bombardments. Despite repeated calls from the United Nations Security Council for an immediate ceasefire, as well as orders from the International Court of Justice urging measures to prevent genocide and alleviate Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, Israel’s attacks persist without pause, further escalating the already dire situation in the region.
