Two injured as chunks of ceiling fall on British Toby Carvery diners VIDEO
Toby Carvery diners were struck by chunks of collapsed ceiling while they tucked in to their roast dinners.
Two people were taken to Gloucester Royal Hospital after the incident at the Brockworth restaurant, Metro reports.
Children can be heard sobbing amid clouds of billowing dust in dramatic footage taken inside the venue.
Toby Carvery has since said "no guests were harmed" and insisted the building is “safe”.
Diner Joey Pass, who visited the restaurant on Sunday with friends and family, described hearing a ‘massive crash’ when a piece of ceiling fell.
He said: "I could see loads of dust and heard a kid scream so I rushed in to see if everyone was okay. A little girl and a woman were hurt but first aid was given by a frantic woman who was eating there."
"The staff took time to evacuate the building as people were still in there eating the roasts."
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: "We conveyed two patients by land ambulance to Gloucester Royal Hospital."
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene having received reports that people were trapped inside.
On arrival they found that nobody was stuck and made the scene safe.
A spokesperson for Toby Carvery said the building has been assessed and "confirmed as safe".
They added: “We can confirm that a small section of our Brockworth restaurant has been affected by damage to the ceiling. As a precaution we immediately evacuated the restaurant and called on the support of the emergency services to assess the building and guests who were dining in the vicinity."
"Following this assessment the building has been confirmed as being safe to use and our maintenance contractors will be on site imminently to carry out repairs. Whilst we were grateful to hear from the emergency services that incident did not cause harm to any guests, we apologise to all guests impacted and our care team will be contacting them directly over the coming days.”
