Two killed in shooting at Michigan shopping mall, police say VIDEO
Two people were killed, and at least one other was injured after a shooting erupted inside a shopping mall in the U.S. state of Michigan on July 3, with police saying the violence stemmed from a dispute between individuals who knew each other.
The shooting occurred at Fairlane Town Centre mall in Dearborn shortly before 1:30 p.m. local time. Responding officers found three people suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Dearborn police, ABC News reports.
Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said investigators believe the shooting was not a random act of violence.
Police said two of the three victims later died, one at the mall and the other after being transported to a hospital.
Shahin said a number of people were being interviewed by investigators as the inquiry continued. He added that those involved in the incident were in their late teens to early 20s.
According to police, the weapons used in the shooting were handguns that appear to have been brought into the mall. Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the shooting, and no arrests had been made as of July 3.
Earlier, the Dearborn Police Department urged the public to stay away from the area while investigators worked at the scene.
