Two killed in truck crash in Uzbekistan’s Angren, several injured
Two people have been killed and four others injured in a serious road traffic accident involving a truck in Angren, Uzbekistan.
The incident occurred on Sunday, April 26, at around 23:10 on the 93rd kilometre of the A-373 highway. According to law enforcement authorities, a 31-year-old driver of a HOWO truck lost control of the vehicle and collided with four cars travelling in the same direction.
The main impact involved a Chevrolet Cobalt. The 51-year-old driver and a 40-year-old passenger in the vehicle died at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Four people from the other damaged vehicles were hospitalised with injuries of varying severity and are receiving medical treatment.
Authorities have launched a criminal investigation under paragraph “a” of part 3 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which covers violations of traffic safety rules resulting in human casualties.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
