Two people killed in Georgia's Covington plane crash, wreckage found in forest
A tragic plane crash in Covington, Georgia, claimed the lives of two individuals on the evening of February 15.
A light-engine plane took off from Covington Airport but crashed in a forest just 20 minutes after takeoff, Caliber.Az reports referring to foreign media.
Two people died instantly following the crash, officials confirmed. The Covington Police Department reported that Newton County officers were informed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that the plane had disappeared from radar shortly after leaving the airport. The wreckage was later located in the woods north of the runway.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
Earlier in February, another crash occurred at Scottsdale Airport involving Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil’s plane. The aircraft, which had two pilots and two passengers on board, crashed at the same airport on February 10. Three people were injured, and 78-year-old pilot Joey Vitoski tragically lost his life in the accident.
In another incident, on February 7, a Bering Air plane crashed in Alaska. The wreckage was discovered on the sea ice, and all 10 people aboard the aircraft were killed.
Investigations into these multiple aviation accidents are ongoing.
