Two Ukrainian journalists killed in Russian drone attack in Kramatorsk PHOTO
Two Ukrainian journalists have tragically lost their lives following a Russian Lancet drone strike in the streets of Kramatorsk, a city in eastern Ukraine.
Elena Gubanova and camera operator Eugene Karmazin were struck while traveling in their red 4x4 vehicle. Both had been reporting from the region for several months on behalf of the television channel Freedom, the city’s mayor confirmed, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
Kramatorsk lies perilously close to the frontline and remains a significant target for Kremlin forces engaged in fierce battles across nearby towns. These efforts are part of a broader campaign to seize control of this strategic city within the Donetsk province, which Russia has already unlawfully annexed.
The mayor paid tribute to the journalists’ dedication, stating, “They told the truth about the enemies of crime, the evacuation of the civilian population, the history of our defenders. They worked in the hottest spots of Donetsk region, were always the first everywhere.”
