UAE closes embassy in Tehran after Iranian strikes
UAE authorities said they had decided to close their embassy in Tehran and recall the ambassador along with all members of the diplomatic mission following Iranian strikes on Emirati territory.
“The United Arab Emirates has announced the closure of its Embassy in Tehran and the withdrawal of its Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with all members of its diplomatic mission," the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The ministry noted that the decision was prompted by Iranian missile strikes on the country’s territory, stressing that civilian infrastructure had been hit.
Earlier reports said that three foreign nationals were killed as a result of Iranian strikes targeting US military facilities in the UAE. Several missiles and drones also fell in residential areas.
