UAE FM meets Israeli PM, calls for immediate Gaza ceasefire

27 September 2025 11:43

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 80) in New York.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the latest regional developments and the international community’s efforts to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip, Caliber.Az reports, citing Emirati media.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed emphasised the urgent need to halt the ongoing violence in Gaza, achieve a permanent and sustainable ceasefire, prevent further loss of life, and address the humanitarian crisis and the tragic conditions faced by civilians in the territory.

The UAE Foreign Minister reaffirmed his country’s support for international initiatives aimed at securing the release of all hostages and detainees. He also stressed the importance of coordinated global action to combat extremism and terrorism in all its forms, while safeguarding the lives of civilians.

Sheikh Abdullah highlighted that the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza demands the mobilisation of all possible efforts to ensure the unimpeded and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need.

Reiterating the UAE’s steadfast commitment to peace, Sheikh Abdullah expressed support for all initiatives that seek a comprehensive resolution based on the two-state solution.

He emphasised that such efforts should fulfil the aspirations of both the Palestinian and Israeli peoples, as well as those of the wider region, for lasting security and stability.

He further underlined the importance of upholding the values of tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity as essential for realising the region’s aspirations for security, prosperity, and sustainable development.

The meeting was attended by Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, UAE Minister of State, and Mohamed Mahmoud Al Khaja, UAE Ambassador to Israel.
