UAE intercepts 8 ballistic missiles, 36 drones in latest Iran attack
On March 31, 2026, the United Arab Emirates’ air defence systems intercepted 8 ballistic missiles, 4 cruise missiles, and 36 drones launched from Iran, the UAE Ministry of Defence announced.
According to Caliber.Az, the ministry stated that since the beginning of Iran’s overt attacks, UAE air defences have intercepted a total of:
- 433 ballistic missiles
- 19 cruise missiles
- 1,977 drones
The statement added: "The attacks resulted in the martyrdom of 2 members of the armed forces while performing their national duty, in addition to the martyrdom of a Moroccan civilian contracted by the Armed Forces, as well as 8 fatalities of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian and Indian nationalities."
Additionally, 188 people were injured with varying degrees of severity — from minor to severe. Among the wounded were citizens of the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden, and Tunisia.
The UAE Ministry of Defence emphasised that it remains fully prepared to repel any threats and firmly stands against anything that endangers the country’s security, while protecting the sovereignty, stability, national interests, and capabilities of the UAE.
