UAE oil boss urges global effort to safeguard Strait of Hormuz

The head of Abu Dhabi’s state oil company, ADNOC, Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, has called for international action to protect energy shipments through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, warning of potential risks to the global economy.

Sultan Al Jaber described Iran’s recent actions in the waterway as “global economic extortion” and urged nations to uphold a United Nations Security Council resolution to guarantee free navigation, Iran International reports.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital artery for the world’s energy supply,” Al Jaber said. “It is essential that the international community acts collectively to ensure uninterrupted flows and maintain economic stability.”
