UAE, Serbian presidents discuss regional escalation in phone call
United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić held a phone conversation to discuss regional developments amid rising military tensions and their implications for security and stability.
During the call, Vučić condemned a terrorist attack targeting the UAE Consulate General in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, Caliber.Az reports via Emirates News Agency.
He said the incident violated international norms and conventions that guarantee the protection of diplomatic missions and their premises, and warned that it represented a dangerous escalation threatening the safety of diplomatic personnel.
The Serbian president also reaffirmed his country’s full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates in measures taken to safeguard its security, territorial integrity and the safety of its citizens.
Sheikh Mohamed thanked Vučić for Serbia’s supportive stance and expressions of solidarity.
Both leaders stressed the need for an immediate halt to escalatory actions and called for serious dialogue and diplomacy to preserve regional security and prevent further crises.
