UAE summons Iranian ambassador over missile strikes
On March 2, the United Arab Emirates summoned Iran’s ambassador and issued an official protest over attacks that hit civilian targets on its territory, the state news agency WAM reports.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar delivered a note of strong condemnation to Ambassador Reza Ameri, describing the strikes as a blatant violation of UAE sovereignty and a threat to regional stability. He said the attacks targeted residential areas as well as airports, ports, and infrastructure, and rejected Tehran’s explanations regarding the nature of the strikes.
Al Marar emphasised that such actions undermine efforts to reduce regional tensions, demanded their immediate cessation, and stated that the UAE reserves the right to take countermeasures under international law.
