UK condemns Iranian missile strikes targeting Diego Garcia base
The United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence has condemned recent Iranian missile attacks as “a threat to British interests” following reports that two ballistic missiles were fired at a US-UK military base.
"Iran’s reckless attacks, lashing out across the region and holding hostage the Strait of Hormuz, are a threat to British interests and British allies. RAF jets and other UK military assets are continuing to defend our people and personnel in the region. This government has given permission to the US to use British bases for specific and limited defensive operations," a Ministry of Defence spokesperson said, Sky News reports.
Te missiles were reportedly launched at the military base on Diego Garcia prior to the UK government’s announcement on March 20 regarding the use of its bases by US forces.
