UK, France discuss importance of increasing aid to Ukraine
UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs Liz Truss met with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna in Paris on July 1.
Following the NATO Summit in Madrid, Truss noted the UK's commitment to European security and stressed the need for close cooperation with France to strengthen NATO, Caliber.Az reports referring to the UK secretary of state’s message on Twitter.
The sides agreed to continue working to protect the international community and support Ukraine's struggle for freedom and self-determination.
“The UK and France are working closely to support Ukraine. Good meeting with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna in Paris to discuss deepening our defence and security ties to robustly stand against Russia’s barbarism and make sure Putin’s aggression is contained,” Truss tweeted.
The ministers discussed the importance of increasing aid to Ukraine to deter Russia's advance, as well as countering the threats posed by Russia and China by strengthening security and economic ties.
