UK, Kuwait agree on air defence measures following drone attack
03 April 2026 14:54
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer held a phone call with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah to discuss the deployment of British air defence systems in the country.
A Downing Street spokesperson said Starmer condemned the “reckless” nighttime drone attack on a Kuwaiti oil refinery, Caliber.Az reports, citing BBC.
The two sides also agreed to cooperate on restoring shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to him, the prime minister reiterated that the United Kingdom stands with Kuwait and all UK allies in the Gulf.
The officials emphasised that the air defence systems “will protect Kuwaiti and British personnel and interests in the region, while avoiding escalation into wider conflict.”
