UK may back EU plan for €90 billion loan to Ukraine — Bloomberg
The United Kingdom is preparing to open talks on joining the European Union’s initiative to provide Ukraine with a €90 billion loan, according to Bloomberg, citing the office of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The report says Starmer is expected to announce the UK’s intention to cooperate with the EU on supporting Ukraine at the European Political Community summit in Armenia on May 4.
He is expected to say that cooperation with the European Union would strengthen security and create new opportunities for British industry.
“I will always act in our national interest: protecting our security, supporting our allies, and delivering jobs and stability at home,” Starmer is quoted as saying.
Earlier reports suggested that the first tranche of the loan could amount to €6 billion and may be allocated to the development of Ukrainian drones.
