UK PM announces major investment in country's nuclear deterrence
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced a major investment in the country's nuclear deterrence program, saying the initiative will support the shipbuilding industry, strengthen the defence sector, and generate 22,000 jobs for apprentices and trainees.
In a post on X, he said keeping the UK safe is the first duty of any government, but security is not just about what they build—it is also about who builds it.
“The submarines produced in Barrow protect us all, the jobs and apprenticeships they create change lives. This is Britain - reindustrialised," Burnham wrote on X.
