UK PM Keir Starmer rules out resignation amid Labour tensions

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has stated that he will continue fighting for the leadership following disappointing election results, insisting that he will not resign.

The prime minister stressed that the United Kingdom is “a reasonable, tolerant, decent country” and said that was “the Britain I will fight for,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the BBC.

Asked whether he intended to remain in a potential leadership contest after Labour MP Catherine West announced plans to challenge him, he noted: “I'm not going to walk away.”

He emphasised that the frequent leadership changes under the previous Conservative government “cost this country a huge amount.”

Starmer signaled resolve amid leadership speculation but offers limited policy shift in key speech.

With sleeves rolled up and no jacket or tie, Starmer projected a determined image as he sought to demonstrate he understands the political stakes for both himself and the Labour Party.
