28 January 2026 14:19
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has arrived in Beijing for an official visit to China, which will last until January 31.
This is the first visit by a British prime minister to China in the past eight years, Caliber.Az reports, citing Chinese media.
During the trip, Starmer is expected to hold talks with Chinese leaders on bilateral relations and international issues. In addition to Beijing, the visit program also includes a stop in Shanghai.
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said Beijing hopes to open a “new chapter” in relations with London, noting that as permanent members of the UN Security Council, the two countries should maintain dialogue and strengthen cooperation.
