UK PM, Trump explore plan to restore shipping through Strait of Hormuz
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer spoke to US President Donald Trump from Qatar.
During the call, the Prime Minister outlined his recent discussions with Gulf leaders and military planners in the region regarding the need to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as ongoing UK efforts to bring together partners to agree on a viable plan, the UK Government said.
The two leaders agreed that, now that a ceasefire is in place and there is agreement to reopen the strait, the situation has entered a new phase focused on achieving a broader resolution.
They also discussed the need for a practical plan to restore shipping flows as quickly as possible, and agreed to remain in close contact, with further talks expected soon.
