UK refuses to send warships to Strait of Hormuz
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has refused a request from US President Donald Trump to send British warships to the Strait of Hormuz.
Starmer’s refusal could strain London-Washington relations amid rising energy prices caused by Iran’s oil blockade, Caliber.Az reports via British media.
The newspaper also notes that, in light of the blockade of Iran’s oil supplies from the Strait, which has led to a rise in energy prices, Starmer will address the UK on March 16 to announce the allocation of £50 million in emergency aid to the families hardest hit by the crisis.
Earlier, France, Germany and South Korea also signalled reluctance to answer the United States president’s demand, as international concern grows that the war is being prolonged indefinitely.
