UK reports attack on vessel off Yemen’s port

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported an incident in the Red Sea involving an explosion near a commercial vessel en route to the Yemeni port of Hodeidah.

According to the UKMTO, there were two incidents: one occurring 63 nautical miles (approximately 116.6 km) southwest and another 97 nautical miles (about 180 km) northwest of Hodeidah, Caliber.Az reports citing the message posted on UKMTO’s website.

These events have been classified as attacks.

Fortunately, the vessel and its crew were unharmed in both cases. UK’s authorities have launched an investigation into the incidents. The UKMTO has advised ships to exercise caution while transiting the area and to report any suspicious activity to the organisation.
