10 April 2024 10:43
Six British Typhoon fighter jets have arrived in Romania to take part in a NATO air patrol mission, the Royal Air Force announced on its website.
In addition to the Typhoon fighters, aircraft from Britain's 9th Bombardment Squadron and around 200 military personnel assigned to provide support are taking part in the four-month rotational mission to "protect the alliance's eastern flank".
The air group will be based at the Mihail Kogalniceanu military airfield near the Black Sea port city of Constanta. It will be on constant alert to intercept Russian aircraft allegedly approaching North Atlantic Alliance airspace.
